As we are freshly back from spending an extended long weekend on Vancouver Island, it’s fitting to share a blog post of Tofino on film. These photos are from a beautiful, sunny day in February this year. We spent just over four months of last winter at Sproat Lake and went to Tofino a few times. It was great being just over an hour drive from Tofino. This was while my Dad came to visit us there and we wanted to take him to explore this area for his first time. We started off in Ucluelet then my Dad and I biked the path from Long Beach into town. Thanks to the wonderful couple whose house we rented that let us use their e-bikes! Kent and I had previously biked from the junction to Long Beach too. It was such a nice day to bike and explore around.
We hiked down to Tonquin Beach which a lot of these photos are from there. The sun was warm and it was really nice to be there on such a clear day with blue skies. We spent some time in town and also walked along a few of the other beaches and enjoyed sunset from Chesterman Beach. It’s days like this that I especially enjoy to shoot on film. When there’s no pressure and I have time to shoot with intention. I still find film is such a magical medium. It’s partly the anticipation after pressing the shutter and not getting instant gratification like digital too. It slows me down and there’s something special when being extra considerate of each frame that’s exposed. Here are some favorites of Tofino on film. It was a memorable day exploring with my Dad and our friend by the ocean!!
