We miss our Vancouver Island friends so looking through these photos again is really nice! Even though it has taken way longer to share this Vancouver Island winter session than I would like. It’s life right now as we haven’t had a permanent home base for nearly 20 months and are on the move travelling in Central America since the beginning of this year. My work time is limited as we travel so I’m fitting it in as I can. We feel quite removed from the Canadian winter and even the mild winter we experienced last year out on the island. To stay in Canada it really is a nice place to spend the colder months – although there are stretches without much sunshine. People like this added warmth and sunny rays though!!
Their family made our time staying last winter and other visits to Vancouver Island extra wonderful and memorable. We’re grateful for friends like the Christian family!! They are kind, caring people! And some of them are even willing to jump in the frigid Sproat Lake with Kent for cold therapy. That was a hard no from me. When we arrived in October of 2023, their family had just recently moved to this acreage. So it was special to capture photos in the place that is now home and they’d already put hours of labour into making it theirs. With lots of dreams of how the property will be one day!
I knew these Aussie-Canadians really like their chooks and let them free-range. It took a bit of bribery to get them in a few photos but how fun! We are thrilled for our friends to have this place and appreciate how welcoming they are to us when we spend time there!! The eldest daughter was also in her final year of high school and has now graduated. Pretty sweet to capture memories in a meaningful place for their wonderful family!! Ending with photos by the huge fire from cleaning up around the acreage. I loved how they were soon after shared with surprise deliveries to their families in Australia!
