The month of January ended with a very special, beautiful day in the mountains! Andrew + McKayla became fast friends and are a wonderful, happy couple!! They truly make one another beam! There were wedding plans in the making for a June wedding but when the wheels got turning for a winter elopement in Canmore, they made it happen!! It just so worked out with our plans to spend the month of January on Vancouver Island too. We knew we could make it work with their change of date to be in Canmore for the 31st on our return trip. Everything fell into place like it was meant to be! With just their immediate families in attendance and a family friend as their marriage commissioner. Everyone did very well to keep it a secret until they were officially husband and wife!!
Having photographed McKayla’s sister’s wedding in the mountains several years ago, it was extra sweet to document another wedding for their family. Both of their families are wonderful to be around!! With an intimate wedding like this we felt like part of their family too! The temperature didn’t seem too bad for winter but the wind had a cold chill to it. They chose to still have an outdoor ceremony for a true winter elopement in Canmore. It was a bit of a hike in the snow up to the ceremony location and the Rocky Mountains made a stunning backdrop! Fluffy flakes of snow fell as they made their commitment to one another. Everyone was glad to get back to the Coast Canmore Hotel after outdoor photos and enjoyed the afternoon in a cozy space. The delicious reception lunch was followed by thoughtful and entertaining speeches along with wedding cake. It was a gorgeous winter elopement!!!
Congratulations Andrew + McKayla!!!
